season. Riders who have signed
with new teams and are gradu-
ating to a new class often make
their racing debut at this event.
With so much talent descend-
ing on Gatorback, we can always
anticipate a week filled with great
racing, and this year did not dis-
appoint! The week kicked off on
Monday with practice and quali-
fiers for Supercross. The weath-
er was great for the first day of
Mini O's, but it wasn't expected
to last. The threat of rain quickly
became a concern. We received
reports of heavy rain less then a
few hours away and we feared
we would be hit next. The rain
held off till Tuesday afternoon,
drawing a stoppage to qualifiers
with just one race remaining. The
track crew wanted to get ahead
of the storm and roll the track be-
fore the rain hit. Despite all the
wet weather that hammered us
throughout the night, the track
was in great shape on Wednes-
day morning. After a brief rain
delay it was time to crown some
champions.
In the A and Pro Sport classes
newcomers Alex Frye and Tristan
Charboneau joined the ranks of
Darian Sanayei, Cody Chisholm
and veteran and hometown kid
Ricky Renner. Renner made sure
to let the young up and comers
know that this old dog still has
some fight left in him by snatch-
ing up the 450 A as well as the
Junior 25+ number-one plaques.
The Monster Energy Kawa-
saki Team Green rider Darian
Sanayei carried the momentum
from his second-place finish at
the Monster Energy Cup into two
Supercross titles in the 250 Pro
Sport and the 450 Pro Sport as
well as a second place in the 250
(Left) KTM's Alexander Frye was the top
title-getter in the A/Pro Sport ranks.
(Below left) Jalek Swoll was the top
85cc-class rider on his Husqvarna. He
earned both the Pro Circuit Platinum
Pipe and Fox Bronze Boot Awards.
