IN THE WIND P26 CAMIER AND MV SIGN TWO-YEAR DEAL L eon Camier will be the lone MV Agusta factory rider in the 2015 and 2016 Superbike World Championships. Camier rode the F4 RR for the team at the Laguna Seca World Superbike round last year, in place of the injured Claudio Corti, and his first taste of the four-cylin- der Italian bike confirmed to him that it had real potential. "When I rode for them before in Laguna Seca the factory had just taken over from Yakhnich and a lot of improvements need- ed to be done," said Camier, who finished the two Laguna races in 15th and tenth places respec- tively. "Having spoken with them, their technical plan for next year made me more interested in the whole situation. There is still a lot of work to be done, but they have a lot of plans to improve things for next year, and that is why I am in- terested in it." There will be a new F4 RR for the 2015 season, but the bike he rode at the winter test in Jerez was a mix of 2014 material and 2015 parts to suit the new Super- bike technical rules. "This Jerez test is literally a shakedown," Camier said. "There are a lot of things to try, but nothing really massively dif- ferent that is going to make us go two seconds faster. I have to get back up to speed and clarify what I thought before." It was still early days for new MV, but the 2015 machine is on schedule for the 2015 season opener in Australia, according to MV racing chief Brian Gillen. "We have probably about 60% of the 2015 material here—like just about everybody right now" Gillen said about the progress. "The electronics still have not ar- rived from Magneti Marelli and it will be based on the MLE ECU. We will be homologating the new street model for racing and we will be on that 2015 model in Aus- tralia. A number of the compo- nents are already from that new bike and we are getting ready to receive the other ones." Gordon Ritchie HERRIN SIGNS WITH MEEN J osh Herrin returns to the U.S. to race a Supersport machine for Meen Motorsports in the MotoAmerica series for 2015. And after a rough stint last season in the very competitive Moto2 World Cham- pionship, the former AMA Superbike champ is looking forward to the debut season of MotoAmerica and returning to his Yamaha roots. "I'm really happy to be racing again in America and to be able to return to my Yamaha roots," said Herrin via a team release. "Riding the R6 that I am so familiar with will truly be icing on the cake. I'm confident that together the Meen Team and I can achieve our goal of winning the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship in its inaugural year. To know how to do something well is to enjoy it and I am really looking forward to having fun racing motorcycles again." Leon Camier signs two-year World Superbike deal with MV Agusta.
