40 Years Ago December 3, 1974
We featured random motocross and speedway photos taken by Andy Hayt on
the cover 40 years ago… One of our featured stories was a test on the new
Yamaha YZ80 motocrosser, which was based on the previous year's Mini
Enduro… We also showed you some of the latest machinery from Greeves…
Four-strokes were the rage back then. We had a feature story titled: Look Out
For These Lightweight 4-Strokes! We said that
"two-strokes have had their day in motocross
and the four-stroke's day is dawning."
30 Years Ago December 5, 1984
Rick Johnson was pictured on the cover 30 years ago for winning the Japan
Supercross over Johnny O'Mara, David Bailey and Broc Glover. Also pic-
tured on the front page was Chris Crandall who piloted an ATK to a surprise
victory at the 155-mile Barstow-to-Vegas desert race. Scot Harden was the
runner-up, with Mike Baker finishing third and Ted Hunnicutt fourth… We
covered the SCHA Hillclimb Championship at DeAnza Raceway won by
Kerry Peterson… We showed you some of
the latest bikes from BMW.

The Yamaha YZ250F, Honda CRF250R, Kawasaki KX250F and Suzuki
RM-Z250 were all pictured in action at Honey Lake on the cover 10 years
ago to accompany our 2005 250cc four-stroke motocross shootout. And the
winner? The Honda… Our racer test was featured on the 2004 Suzuki GSV-4
MotoGP bike… We also tested the new Yamaha YZF-R6… Jeff Northrop
and Darcy Lang were the big winners at the Worcester Arenacross… Jimmy
Jarrett wrapped up the OMA Championship… We went to Oklahoma for the
ISDE reunion ride.

20 Years Ago November 30, 1994
Danny Hamel was pictured on the cover to accompany our coverage of the
Baja 1000. Hamel and teammates Larry Roeseler and Ty Davis "dusted"
everyone to claim the overall victory… Scott Parker was named AMA Athlete
of the Year… Another Bercy Supercross came and went and this time
Mike LaRocco was crowned the king of Bercy… We tested the Gas Gas
JT35 trials bike… We interviewed 16-year-old pro-motocross rookie, Team
Yamaha's Kevin Windham… We also tested
Honda's latest CR500R motocrosser.
