the speculation.
"It's crazy how professional
sports are, from the inside," Bla-
zusiak said. "Coming into tonight,
I got the impression that every-
body was saying, 'Oh, there's
something wrong with Taddy…
something's going on.' We're rac-
ing a really hard level here. If you
don't get the start, you're done. I
didn't get two starts—I was lead-
ing the championship until then."
One of the two starts Blazusiak
"didn't get" was at the penultimate
round in Boise, Idaho, the week-
end prior, where a chaotic start
left him near dead-last, scram-
bling to play catch-up for the rest
of the main event. Three years
ago it might not have been such
a feat for the Amazing Taddy, but
today's level of EnduroCross is
quite a different story.
"If I'm coming back from last to
fourth, I think it was a pretty good
save," Blazusiak said. "I won five
years in a row and then two bad
starts and this is what you get."
Briefly...
a short, slippery, curved approach.
"It was tough to do that," Brown said.
"It was slippery. The consequences
were not good if you made a mis-
take. But it was awesome. I think
they should have more stuff like that.
Some people say they shouldn't, but
it makes it fun for people to see us
jump like that. It's good to get some
air out there."
"Wild" Wally Palmer was another
rider to attempt vaulting himself
across the entirety of the pool during
afternoon practice, but he came up
a little short and crashed. Amazingly,
Palmer was unscathed, although the
linkage of his Christini AWD was like-
ly not as fortunate.
Once again, FMF KTM's Taylor
Robert found himself in a solid
fourth place, although this time he
really had to work for it. Robert set
the fast time in the evening Hot Laps,
but his main event didn't go quite as
well. "I had a great start, and some-
body thought that they should take
me out," Robert lamented. "They
came all the way across the track
and – what looked like – hit me on
purpose. But I don't know… I'm not
going to say anybody's name. I was a
little irked about that. I the end, sec-
ond-to-last back to fourth wasn't too
bad. I felt really good out there. I was
nailing that whole back section over
the water, over the log, over the tires.
It was really fun; I enjoyed the track.
It was a good combination of jumpy
and technical. I had a good time."
There were a number of season-long
battles left to settle at the Enduro-
Cross finale, one of which being the
battle for fifth in the championship
between Max Gerston and Mike
