got to regroup from this and look
forward to next year. It's going to
be tough again; it's going to be
back to their normal racing envi-
ronment and terrain so it will be
tougher for us.
"But I think we have a good
program going with the Trophy
team, how we're developing
and building the team to be bet-
ter prepared when we get to the
event."
Junior World Trophy
In Junior World Trophy, Ameri-
can fortunes didn't fluctuate
quite as wildly. The three rookies
and Six Days sophomore Grant
Baylor started out probably a
little tentatively, ending day one
fourth behind Australia, France
and Sweden.
To no one's surprise, Jones
proved to be right at home in the
conditions, as one might expect
from the WORCS regular who's
also raced for KTM in Baja.
Led by Jones from the first day,
Team USA's Junior squad won
the second day, vaulting them-
selves to second in the standings
behind Australia, then took the di-
vision lead for good on day three,
swapping day wins with France
the rest of the week. The young
Americans became the first
U.S. team to win the class since
2006, making it four victories in
the category since the first one
in 1973 in Massachusetts (when
it was called the Silver Vase and
had no age limit).
GNCC regulars did well, Bol-
linger earning a silver in E1 and
both Baylors finishing on gold in
E2, but Jones' week was impres-
sive, considering he had a cold
most of the week, though he re-
Christophe Nambotin
proved nearly unbeatable
in E1, topping the class
times in nearly every single
test of the week.
