and landing from some jumps, but it
worked well in Argentina.
Italy's Franco Acerbis—the man be-
hind Acerbis Plastica—once again
paid a visit to Six Days, though he
remained all week, accompanied by
an official from the Peruvian federa-
tion exploring the possibility of that
country one day hosting the ISDE.
The location? Cusco, almost in the
shadow of the famed Machu Picchu.
Speaking of Franco Acerbis, he'd
like to see a return to the rule that
originally governed Six Days. In oth-
er words, all riders' scores count—no
throwing out the worst score, which
is something he calls the "joker"
rule.
After her bike became one of the ca-
sualties of day three, Rachel Gutish
gave her helmet to Australia's Tayla
Jones since it was Jones' birthday
on day four. When Gutish decided
to ride chase on day four, she had
to borrow a helmet and ended up
sporting one from the Canadian men
so she had to add some padding to
snug up the fit somewhat.
Though dirt/silt ingestion accounted
for most of the DNFs at this race,
there appeared to be more electrical
issues than normal as well, possibly
due to the heat and heavy stresses
associated with riding in deep sand.
KTM and Husqvarna ignition failures
seemed most prevalent, though that
could be because they had the most
bikes in the field. At least one Beta
and a Honda on the U.S. team also
