CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "You know… when old dirt bikers get to heaven, they get to ride on golf courses." Remembering Kenny Zahrt Dear Kenny, I will always miss you. I remember the early days, growing up with you. I remem- ber your father taking us to the drag races at Lyon's Drag Strip and seeing the Green Monster jet-powered dragster. I remem- ber peeking through some 4x8 plywood at the fence near the starting line and getting our eyelashes singed off when the Green Monster lit up. The White Hills on the top of Pomelo Dr, the Staircases at the top of Devron Ridge Road on our Schwinn Stingrays. I remember your first Honda CL90 with a straight pipe, and a brown fuel tank. I remember your first Bultaco Sherpa S 125 when you were sponsored by Kolbe Honda/Bultaco. I remember seeing you at age 48, it was on my birthday. After all these years, you came up to me and said, "Hey, aren't you Randy van Vliet?" You remembered me, the guy that never rode motocross, from our bicycle days. We grew up during the best of times. It was awesome; you were always a pioneer back then. RIP, buddy. Randy van Vliet via the Internet You know… when old dirt bik- ers get to heaven, they get to ride on golf courses. I'm imag- ining "The Dart" holeshot'n the run to the first green with Jim Pomeroy wondering who that guy is on the flying 'Taco. Mac Mclemore via Facebook McGrath Family Values Your great story about Jeremy Kim McGrath brings to light a very important lesson that we all should remember: Money, success, incredible talent and skill can all overshadow a person's real life. Everyone has their own demons to deal with in their lives. Always be kind— you never know what the other person might be dealing with behind the scenes. Daniel C. Hirst Via the Internet Spec-tacular MotoAmerica Looks like MotoAmerica is mak- ing the right moves bringing in this KTM class as grooming grounds for future Grand Prix riders in the US. So happy to see the much-needed changes in our national road racing se- ries and can't wait to see them in action next spring. Lance Holst via the Internet Great move by MotoAmerica, but we need an over-50 spec series, sponsored by AARP.
