OFF ROAD GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES ROUND 8/NOVEMBER 15, 2014 FORD IDAHO CENTER/NAMPA, IDAHO P72 Factory Beta and Stillwell Per- formance-backed Cody Webb narrowly took his third win of the season and a 13-point lead in the series. The championship is now his to lose and the rest of the con- tenders will need to be flawless at the final round in California and hope GEICO-supported Webb has his worst finish of the sea- son. Nothing is predictable in EnduroCross, as Saturday's main event proved yet again. Coming into the Idaho round, the points battle was tight. Webb led by a mere seven digits over Factory Red Bull KTM's Taddy Blazusiak—the defending and five-time champion. Behind them, only two more points back in third place, was Rockstar/ JCR Honda/Lucas Oil's Colton Haaker. Idaho's penultimate round of the season was sure to set the tone for a championship finale in Ontario. And the Idaho Center's large floor and Idaho's abun- dance of nasty obstacle materi- als made for a track that was both fast and ruthless. Long straights, tall logs and nasty back-to-back woodpiles in the final 180-degree corner meant consistent laps were nearly impossible. The night started right for Webb as he transferred straight into the main event after win- ning his heat race. The heat-race win earned him one champion- ship point and let him relax (and warm up) before the night's Hot Laps and main event. But the race wasn't easy. Webb was in a stacked heat with Husqvarna's Mike Brown grabbing the hole- shot and early lead with Blazusiak in second. Brown, fast all night, slid out momentarily, letting the two leaders by. Webb stalked Blazusiak, making a pass with two laps to go and holding on for the win by a mere eight seconds. Brown finished third, taking the final transfer spot. The second EX Pro heat went to Factory FMF/KTM's Taylor Robert. Coming off his first win of the season at the previous round Taylor Robert (33) and Colton Haaker (10) had a good battle right up to the last few turns.
