VOL. 51 ISSUE 46 NOVEMBER 18, 2014 P29 TOMAC CROWNED KING OF LILLE G EICO Honda's Eli Tomac dominated this year's Bercy Supercross, which actually took place at Lille, in the north of France, due to renovations to the traditional venue in Bercy. At the end of two days of racing, Tomac won everything he lined up for, including the two main events, continuing the control the Ameri- cans have held over the event for the last six years. JGR/Toyota/Yamaha's Jus- tin Barcia was second in both mains, while Honda-mounted Malcolm Stewart, who struggled with arm-pump, finished third overall, giving the Americans the team win. Despite the move to a new venue, 43,000 spectators came to the Pierre Mauroy Stadium to watch. This year's track was bigger than the one held in the Bercy Arena, and Tomac was able to really open up his factory 450 Honda—which was shipped from the U.S. Meanwhile, Barcia was much stronger on Sunday after making a few minor engine-set- ting adjustments. The top non-American rider was Frenchman Fabien Izoird who placed fourth overall ahead of Josh Hill and Weston Peick. Christophe Pourcel had strong finishes on Saturday, with a sec- ond in the first race, but a crash on Sunday slowed the French- man's pace. Justin Brayton was the only rider to lead a lap other than Tomac, and the BTO Sports rid- er led two laps of Sunday's main before crashing out of conten- tion. Brayton also finished sec- ond in one of Saturday's races, but dropped out of the top 10 overall with his DNF on Sunday.
