IN THE WIND P28 NOYES IS CHAMP! A merican Kenny Noyes on the Palmeto PL Ka- wasaki rode the race of his life at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, and emerged at the end of the 19 laps as FIM CEV SBK International Su- perbike Champion. He went into the ninth and final round trailing former Spanish Champion Ivan Silva on the BMW by four points and needing either to win or finish second ahead of Silva. Noyes got the holeshot and opened a slight gap over Morales and Silva, but on lap seven Morales went into the lead. With five laps remaining Noyes upped the pace and not only pulled clear of the BMW rider, he also closed on Morales and looked set to make a move when Silva lost the front on the entrance to turn four at the start of lap 17. The Palmeto PL team quickly got the board and informed Noyes that his only rival had crashed. He then slowed and cruised home to take the title. Pi- etri was third, giving Palmeto PL not only the title but also two podium places. "He [Silva] pushed us hard and was fighting right to the end," Noyes said. "I´m so grateful to the team, to Kawasaki and to Michelin for all the work they put in, and it was great to be on the podi- um with Robertino [Pietri] again. That made it ever more special for Palmeto PL." Larry Lawrence HASLAM TO APRILIA A fter looking like he may miss out on all the plum rides in World Superbike in 2015, Leon Haslam has been confirmed with the Red Devils Roma Aprilia Team, running top-level factory ma- chinery with a revamped engine design on the lat- est RSV-4 RR. Haslam has been near the top of the Red Devils' shopping list for some time and after Marco Me- landri was confirmed to be heading to MotoGP with Aprilia, Haslam signed the deal at the Milan show last week. "It has taken a long time sorting and organizing, but it has all come together," said Haslam who is now in theoretically one of the best slots possible. "I believe we will be running the same colors as Sylvain and Marco this year and the effort is be- ing run out of the factory, but obviously run by Red Devils," said the three-time World Superbike race winner, Haslam. "I think I'm getting two or three Aprilia staff as well, directly into the effort. It is re- ally exciting."
