here's a reason why the
Yamaha YZ250F won our
2014 250F motocross
shootout—it's a killer bike. "Killer,"
meaning, real good! In fact, it's
probably the best 250F produc-
tion motocross bike ever to come
off the assembly line. It's fast,
powerful and has a great chassis
and suspension.
As good as the YZ250F is,
however, it is not perfect and
those imperfections sometimes
stand out more when it's time
to get down to business and do
some serious racing, so when
our 2014 YZ250F test bike got
the opportunity to be ridden at
this year's AMA Amateur National
Motocross Championship at Lo-
retta Lynn's, we contacted our
friends at Pro Circuit and asked
them: how would you prep our
YZ for the big race? But here's
the key—on a budget. "Easy, we'll
show you," they said.
We had to act fast since this
project came about at the last
moment and Loretta's was just
around the corner. The next day
our 2014 Yamaha YZ250F was
on its way to the Pro Circuit shop
in Corona, California, where it be-
gan a quick "tune-up" for the big
race. Even with the short notice,
the guys at Pro Circuit still could
have given our YZ the works
and busted out the grinders and
made permanent alterations to
