ne of the highlights at the
EICMA Motorcycle Show
in Milan, Italy, was the
unveiling of the all-new Ducati
1299 Panigale/Panigale S,
which features the most powerful
Superquadro L-Twin engine yet.
Ducati claims 205 horsepower
at 10,500 rpm and 106.7 pound-
feet of torque at 8750 rpm! An
all-new Akrapovic exhaust system
not only helps achieve those
lofty numbers but also shaves
6.6 pounds off the bike's overall
weight. Claimed dry weight is
367 pounds (420 wet).
Changes to the bike's rake
and trail and relocation of the
swingarm pivot is said to give the
new Panigale more agile han-
dling. It has a 50mm Marzocchi
fork, while the S version of the
Panigale gets the Ohlins Smart
EC real-time suspension system,
which gathers data from multiple
sensors to adjust suspension
settings for the fork, shock and
steering damper electronically.
Returning is the 1198 version
of its Superbike platform—the
Panigale R.
MSRP has not yet been an-
nounced. The Panigales should,
however, be available by Febru-
ary or March.
