PRO CIRCUIT YAMAHA YZ250F

with our bike, Derek had some
upgrades he wanted to do to
personalize the bike before he
and his family traveled to Tennes-
see. He fitted our YZ with Galfer
brakes, which included hoses
and oversize rotors, saying he
likes the increased braking pow-
er and positive feel of the Galfer
units.
Derek also switched out the
stock handlebars for ODI Con-
trolled Flex Technology (CFT)
handlebars and fitted them with
Renthal IntelliLever breakaway
front-brake and clutch levers.
And to top things off, Derek
fitted the YZ with Dunlop MX32
rubber.
Of course, we couldn't show
up at Loretta's with the stock
graphics, so we asked our friend,
Micah Robles, at Dirt Digits to
spice up our bike a bit, and he
designed some slick custom
graphics for our YZ, which we
thought was the best-looking
bike at the track. Of course, we
were a little biased.
LET IT RIP
Derek, who competed in the 250
B class at Loretta Lynn's, said
that he was extremely pleased
with our Pro Circuit-modified
YZ250F and felt that it was plenty
competitive in the class, espe-
cially the motor. His only "regret"
was not having the time to com-
pletely dial-in the suspension be-
fore he left for Loretta's, he had
just one short afternoon on the
bike. He said, though, that by the
end of the week, he flat-out loved
the YZ's suspension
and thought that,
by the last moto,
the suspension was
working flawlessly
and the bike overall
was "perfect." He
added that the guys
at Pro Circuit did an
awesome job getting
the bike ready for Loretta Lynn's
in such short notice.
And the bill? About $3800
total, with about $3000 of that
coming from just the PC mods,
which we feel is very reasonable
for what we were given in return:
a full-on, pro-worthy YZ250F that
will also last. Nothing we did to the
bike should reduce its lifespan in
any way, and that was definitely
a mission of ours going in. With-
out question we could've spent a
lot more money on this project,
but we doubt we could've made
the YZ that much better without
doubling the price or losing some
reliability along the way.

There is a lot of
pressure to do well at
Loretta, but at least
Kelley didn't have
to worry about his
machinery. He felt that
the rather simple Pro
Circuit mods made the
YZ plenty fast.
