STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY DENNIS "KETCHUP" COX A spry and reinvigorated Tra- vis Preston took his sec- ond consecutive 30+ Vet Pro World Championship at Glen Helen Raceway. Yamaha-mount- ed Preston took top honors after a hard-fought battle with KTM test rider Mike Sleeter, Ryan Mo- rais (KTM) and Tonni Anderson (KTM), for the top spot in the 2014 Dubya-sponsored World Veteran MX Championships at the fabled So Cal raceway. It was a literal "who's-who" of racing's elite that took to the track for a Halloween weekend of Vet racing goodness. Legendary "Doctor" Doug Dubach contin- ued to amaze everyone by notch- ing his 24th World Vet Champion- ship title over the course of the long weekend. The Doctor took wins in the 40+ Expert class on Saturday, grabbed top honors in the 50+ Vet class on Sunday, and then he put in a hard-earned sixth in the 30+ Pro division on Sunday! Some workout, eh? MXA's Jody Weisel designed the Vet track at Glen Helen, and it was a rugged and demand- ing course. It was made even tougher by a last-minute deluge on Saturday that turned parts of VOL. 51 ISSUE 45 NOVEMBER 11, 2014 P81 Glen Helen Raceway hosted the 30th running of the World Vet MX Championships over the long Halloween weekend. After a sudden rain deluge on Saturday, the track dried out to ideal conditions, for an assembly of Veteran MX racers. DAY(S) AT GLEN HELEN RACEWAY
