MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
FINAL ROUND/NOVEMBER 9, 2014
RICARDO TORMO CIRCUIT/VALENCIA, SPAIN
P46
slowed those up front.
Marquez gradually pulled
clear, Rossi and Pedrosa were
together, Lorenzo a couple of
seconds behind. Then on lap 17 it
started to rain again, a bit harder,
and mechanics started warming
up wet-shod bikes in pit lane.
"Now I had some doubts," Mar-
quez said. "I remembered Ara-
gon [he had stayed out on slicks,
and crashed], but there were
only three or four corners where
it was really wet. One lap I made
a signal to my team I was coming
in. But then the rain stopped and
I carried on."
With lap times up by five sec-
onds or more, Rossi closed
again, able to use the leader as a
guide, but also concerned. With
the rubber on the track, it was
hard to see how wet it was, he
said.
"A lot of times I thought about
coming in," Rossi said. "There
was a lot of rain on my visor. But
in warm-up it rained a little then
stopped."
Only Lorenzo and Iannone
did pull in. And it was the wrong
move.
Soon it was dry again, Mar-
Ducati teammates
Andrea Dovizioso
(04) and Cal
Crutchlow (35)
battled it out for
fourth place, with
Dovizioso narrowly
beating Crutchlow
across the line.
