FIRST DAY OF
SCHOOL
L
ess than 24 hours after battling it out on track at
Valencia, Spain, for the MotoGP World Cham-
pionship season finale, riders got started on 2015.
And being as such, most of the focus around the
paddock was on getting acquainted with new rid-
ers or some light testing. It was an especially big
day for the MotoGP rookies—Drive M7 Honda's Eu-
gene Laverty, Suzuki's Maverick Vinales, Forward
Racing's Loris Baz and Moto3 title contender Jack
Miller aboard the LCR Honda production racer.
Baz coming from World Superbike and Vinales
from Moto2 shared the same feelings of awe of a
MotoGP bike's power, brakes and tire grip with the
Bridgestone tires. But what about for Miller?
"I enjoyed it so much, and I think it might be one
of the greatest days of my riding career," Miller said
about his first day. "I have never had so much fun
on a bike; the power was incredible, the brakes
were great and it's amazing how much grip you get
from the tires."
The man that topped the class on the first day
was two-time MotoGP champ Jorge Lorenzo
aboard the Movistar Yamaha edging out Monster
Yamaha's Pol Espargaro by 0.143 of a second.
Lorenzo's teammate Valentino Rossi was third and
also not far off Lorenzo's pace, trailing by 0.229 of
a second.

BROTHERS RIDE
B
oth Marquez brothers win-
ning a World Championship
the same year is pretty special.
Well, Honda put some icing on
that cake by allowing the newly
crowned Moto3 Champion Alex
Marquez to ride Marc's MotoGP
bike alongside his older broth-
er at Monday's (November 10)
post-season test in Valencia,
Spain.
"It was very special," Alex
said. "I ride with him when train-
ing with dirt track, motocross,
but with MotoGP it's the first
time. I'm really happy. Hopefully
in the future I can repeat again.
It's like a dream come true."
As for older brother: "Today
the experience was very, very
nice," Marc said. "When I was
behind him I was enjoying a lot,
but at the same time it was scary,
because I saw that some situa-
tions that were not under control
100 percent, but is normal if you
come from Moto3."
