"It's almost easy to forget how close we came to
losing Cycle News completely."
Farewell To Carruthers
Paul Carruthers deserves a
hearty "Thank You" and more
for his years of work and for
shepherding Cycle News from
print into digital. Given the
massive content and up-to-date
coverage that have been in the
digital editions, it's almost easy
to forget how close we came
to losing Cycle News com-
pletely. My appreciation goes
to departing editor Carruthers
together with hearty congratula-
tions to incoming editor Palmer.

Nice tribute to Paul Carruthers
by Larry Lawrence. Paul's fare-
well made me a bit emotional
because I've seen what it's like
for someone to leave a publica-
tion after putting so much into it
for nearly 30 years.

I wish Paul all the best in his
new gig at MotoAmerica; he is
certainly the right person for
the job. He will be missed at
Cycle News by the readers.
His expertise and insight have
been invaluable.

Where's The Fun?
I saw the H2 and was hoping
they were bringing back the
750cc two-stroke triple, but
alas it's just another in-line four.
Where's the fun there?

Don't Just Quit
Jorge Lorenzo jumped on the
bike to swap to wet tires and
shredded the tire on a semi dry
track. I think he should have
at least finished the race by
swapping back to the dry tires.
It's the last race of the year in
front of his people. There were
100,000 people out at Valencia
to see that race; he could have
put on a show with slides or
something. Don't just quit!

Online Race Fan
The online coverage [of World
Superbike] is so much bet-
ter than any cable station can
provide, same
as MotoGP. It
is a new level
of viewing and
allows race fans
to see all the be-
hind the scenes
activity and great
moments you see
in photos. I highly
suggest getting
both online sub-
scriptions for next
year and ditching
cable/satellite as they are way
cheaper than a monthly bill.
