VOL. 51 ISSUE 44 NOVEMBER 4, 2014 P29 ASHBURN FINDS SUCCESS IN JAPAN N -Fab/AmPro Yama- ha's Jordan Ashburn was a big winner in Ja- pan, where he competed in the final round of the Japan National Cross Country Championship in Omachi City, Nagano, November 2. Ashburn had little difficulties in the wet and muddy condi- tions aboard the all-new Yamaha of Japan YZ250FX. The Jigatake Ski Resort pre- sented rough and rocky terrain, similar to that found at the Snow- shoe GNCC in West Virginia. The Snowshoe runner-up in 2014, Ashburn, once again, proved his strength in even the most unfa- vorable conditions, as the Ten- nessee native put a substantial lead on the competition early in the race and never looked back. After 11 laps and nearly three hours of racing, Ashburn finished over 14 minutes ahead of second place Manabu Watanabe, who competed in this year's Snowshoe GNCC but was unable to finish due to a me- chanical issue. Watanabe, however, captured his first-ever JNCC Champion- ship. Multi-time JNCC Champion Kenji Suzuki finished third overall. Jordan Ashburn won the final round of the Japan National Cross Country Championship on the new Yamaha YZ250FX. PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY JNCC VENUE CHANGE FOR BIG 6 GP FINALE W ith the indefinite closure of Pala Raceway, it was clear the Vikings MC needed to find an- other venue for its final round of the AMA District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series. Mike Daniels of the Vi- kings MC recently announced that Lake Elsinore Motocross Park will host the season finale, slated to take place on December 6-7, 2014. "We will be utilizing the full 90-acres of the Lake Elsinore motocross complex for the Vikings GP," Daniels said. "The course will be nearly seven miles long, and it will include the Lucas Oil short course [truck track]. The Pala closure was unfor- tunate, but we're looking forward to a great event at Elsinore." With the closing of Pala Raceway, the final round of the WCGP/Big 6 Grand Prix Series will be relocated to Lake Elsinore, California. PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEAN TURNER
