A photo of John DeSoto performing the classic cross-up on his Ossa from a
local night motocross was pictured on the cover… We were on hand to cover
the Dirt Diggers Hopetown GP Scrambles in Simi Valley, California… One
of our featured stories of the week was our coverage of the Checkpoint M.C.
Enduro in Lucerne Valley, California… We also covered the Tonto Enduro in
Arizona… Our featured test was on the Rick-
man enduro… Race promoter Edison Dye
cancelled the sixth round of the Trans-AMA
Series in Missouri because of rain.

A photo of Husqvarna's latest WR250 was pictured in action on the cover
to accompany our test on the woods thrasher… We headed south to cover
the Baja 1000 that boiled down to a duel between the Honda and Husqvarna
teams—the red bike won in the hands of Chuck Miller and Randy Mo-
rales… The Superbowl of Motocross returned to the Los Angeles Coliseum,
where Jeff Ward took the win in front of
62,000 screaming fans… Fred Merkel was
tops at Daytona.

Valentino Rossi capped off another successful year of MotoGP racing at Va-
lencia. His ninth win of the year landed the Italian on the cover once again…
We featured a test on the 2005 Yamaha YZ250… Rodney Smith wrapped
up his fifth GNCC title at the Ironman run in Indiana… Russ Pearson won
the final Hare & Hound National of the year but Destry Abbott won the 2004
title… Riding a Honda XR600, Steve Hengeveld soloed to victory at the Las
Vegas 200.

Our 125cc motocross shootout was featured on the cover 20 years ago.
The Yamaha YZ125 was the last bike standing… We covered the Sunday
Creek Hare Scrambles National in Millfield, Ohio, where Scott Plessinger
came away with another win… Danny Hamel won the final round of the Hare
& Hound National Series in Lucerne Valley, California… We tested the 1995
KTM 250 E/XC off-roader… We were on
hand to cover the 3

Annual 100cc Dirt Track
National, where Toby Jorgenson topped
Chris Carr.
