JARVIS WINS GETZENRODEO,
WALKER CROWNED
T
he 2014 Extreme Enduro sea-
son came to a close with the
GetzenRodeo, where Husqvar-
na's Graham Jarvis took the
overall victory and KTM's Jonny
Walker finished second to take
the overall title of the first-ever Ex-
treme Enduro European Cup.
Walker started the day on a
strong note, having dominated
the two-hour qualifying race in the
morning, and nearly lapping the
entire field in the process. KTM's
Andreas Lettenbichler ("Letti")
finished second followed by the
Husqvarna duo of Alfredo Gomez
and Graham Jarvis.
Following the morning qualifier the top-12 rid-
ers went on to compete in the five-lap "Champ
Race." Walker opened up a lead early on, but as
the obstacles grew tougher, Jarvis quickly closed
in. Walker started suffering some cooling issues
heading into the second lap, which allowed Jarvis
to take over the lead.
Jarvis, who missed the jump as the starter flag
dropped, had to work his way forward, but once
he was out front, broke away to take a command-
ing lead. Jarvis set the fastest lap of the race, and
completed the five laps in just
under an hour, finishing over
7 minutes ahead of second
place.
"Everything went really well
in the 'Champ Race,'" Jarvis
said. "I battled my way in front
of Letti and caught up with Jon-
ny. We had a little bit of a battle
but I managed to get away. After that things worked
out. It was a fantastic event with a good track and a
massive number of spectators."
Walker held on to take second ahead of Lettenbi-
chler, and also earned himself the Extreme Enduro
European title. "I was pushing as hard as I could,"
Walker said. "Graham was riding really well. I was
close to Graham for two laps and then my bike got
too hot and I had to stop. I knew I was in a pretty
safe second place, so it was just about making
sure I got to the finish."
Lettenbichler rounded out the podium in third
place, followed by Alfredo Gomez and Beta rider
Ben Hemmingway.
The tougher
the better for
Husqvarna's
Graham Jarvis, who
took the "Champ
Race" win at the
GetzenRodeo in
Germany.
