"You work so hard to get the
best set-up and in qualifying, and
everything seems well," Lorenzo
said. "Sometimes you get this
type of tire that is a complete di-
saster. On the right I was perfect,
I could catch Valentino a lot. But
on the left every lap it was worse.
The last lap was a complete trau-
ma to stay on the bike, on the
fifth and sixth-gear corners. I was
very lucky to finish, probably the
luckiest second place I have ever
had."
His assertion was born out
by tumbling lap times, allowing
Crutchlow to slash a gap of al-
most five seconds and breeze
past in the space of five laps. He
was comfortably (too comfort-
ably?) ahead when he fell.
At the start, Lorenzo had led
Crutchlow and Smith into the first
fast corner, but Marquez swept
past on the second, and immedi-
ately started to edge away - by a
second on lap six.
