VOL. 51 ISSUE 42 OCTOBER 21, 2014 P35
Y
amaha joins the small-bore
Sportbike wars with its latest
invention, the YZF-R3, which
takes its styling cues from its bigger
R1 and R6 brothers.
The YZF-R3 is propelled by a
320cc, liquid-cooled, in-line two-
cylinder, DOHC, fuel-injected mo-
tor, which is carried in an aluminum
frame. Suspension is handled by a
single KYB shock in the back and
a 41mm KYB fork up front. It has
10-spoke aluminum wheels and
an all-new LCD instrument panel.
It also has a low 30.7-inch seat
height, a 3.7-gallon fuel capacity
and has a claimed wet weight of
368 pounds.
There will be three color options
to choose from: Team Yamaha
Blue/Matte Silver, Rapid Red, and
Raven black. The YZF-R3 is expect-
ed to arrive at the dealers in March
(2015) with an MRSP of $4990.
