FEATURE BUILD YOUR OWN BETA P92 der different springs, they will put your stock springs back in the crate and you'll have to find a home for the old ones yourself. It was like Christmas day when my personalized Beta 520 RS showed up, complete with a per- sonalized plaque attached to the frame with my name engraved on it. Everyone who goes through the BYOB program gets their own customized plaque, as well. It had been quite awhile since I had last been this excited about a motorcycle—a pretty much full- race, street-legal off-roader that was customized to my specs. The Beta 520 RS is already a sweet machine as is, but in full- dress mode? Whoa! I couldn't wait to ride it. Since it was street- legal, I wouldn't have to wait long. I could just hop on it out of my garage and go, which is pretty much what I did. Many of the upgrades I made to my RS I certainly could have lived without, but after logging many good miles on the bike, there were a few that I, well, could not live without now, like the Rekluse EXP clutch that made my life a lot nicer on the RS, as did the oversized fuel tank. I also liked many of the smaller items I had installed, too, such as the Arc folding levers, the wide Fastway billet footpegs, and the R&D Flex Jet remote fuel screw adjuster (yes, the '14 RS is carbureted). Funny, though, one of my favorite accessories wasn't even an accessory at all— it was the Voyager GPS unit that comes standard on the 2014 (and 2015) RSs. I know I can't live without one now. It goes without saying that this was the best BYOB party that I've ever been too. Unfortunately, someone else is riding my dream bike now, but going through the whole BYOB process was a fun experience and one I would seri- ously consider it when purchas- ing my next dirt bike. You should, too. For more information on Beta's Build Your Own Beta program, CLICK HERE
