Tires maketh the racer.
Nowhere was this more
true than at Australia's fast, bliss-
ful and difficult Phillip Island. Take
last year for example: The race
had to be not only shortened, but
cut in two, with a mandatory stop
to switch to fresh tires when the
Bridgestones couldn't cope with
the heat and the abrasive new
surface.
This year rather differently, but
as a direct consequence to last
year - exclusive new hard-con-
struction tires designed to go the
distance.)

an ecstatic Valentino Rossi on
