E
arlier this month, the Euro version of the
Versys 1000 LT made its debut at the In-
termot Motorcycle Show in Cologne, but
we had to wait for the AIMExpo in Florida for
Kawasaki to unveil the U.S. version of the big
Versys.
The 1000 LT is a larger and more powerful
version of the popular Versys 650. It gets a
fresh new look and a 1043cc liquid-cooled
inline four-cylinder motor, derived from the
company's Z1000. The big Versys features
several rider aids such as ABS, three-mode
KTRC Traction Control, Economical Riding
Indicator (ECO), selectable power modes
and new Assist and Slipper Clutch.
To make long rides more pleasurable, the
1000 LT features long-travel suspension, a re-
mote adjustable preload rear shock, rubber-
mounted handlebars and a larger, adjustable
windshield.
Available in December, the 1000 LT will
be available in two color options—Candy
Burnt Orange/Metallic Spark Black and Flat
Ebony/Metallic Spark Black. Price has not
yet been announced.
