OFF ROAD GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES ROUND 6/OCTOBER 11, 2014 ENERGY SOLUTIONS ARENA/SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH P80 had a little bit of chaos, just like EnduroCross, always, but I was able to push through and get past Brownie and get up here on the podium. I'm definitely working my way back up to where I want to be but I definitely want to get to the top spot." Brown is also making steady improvement, and gunning for a win before the season's end. The last two rounds have shown Brownie getting back to his "old self," and from the looks of the early laps of the main event, many were thinking it was about to be Brown's night. "I started out good today with the holeshot," said Brown who picked up the $500 Nexen Hole- shot Award and went on to lead the first four laps. Brown couldn't fend off Webb for the lead but held on to second for the ma- jority of the race. Although Bla- zusiak and Robert both made late race passes on him, Brown remains focused on his improve- ment and has high hopes for the remainder of the season. "Each time I'm on the track I've gotten better. I came from not finishing races and then getting out and running with the front guys now. Next week should be better, hopefully. I'd like to get on the podium and I want to win a race this year." Brown will get another chance as the series rolls on to Everett, Washington next weekend for round seven. CN 1. Cody Webb (Beta) 2. Taddy Blazusiak (KTM) 3. Taylor Robert (KTM) 4. Mike Brown (Hus) 5. Colton Haaker (Hon) 6. Max Gerston (Beta) 7. Ty Tremaine (KTM) 8. Nick Thompson (KTM) 9. Bobby Prochnau (KTM) 10. Geoff Aaron (KTM) Briefly... 12 th in the Pro class going into the evening program. Though he didn't qualify for the main event, Powell fared much better than many Super- cross-overs who have attempted En- duroCross. Taylor Robert definitely did his share of bar banging in Denver the week prior, but things were some- what tamer in Salt Lake City. "There wasn't as much banging around but that's because the track was so slip- pery that you couldn't really push," Robert said. "Denver had some re- ally good dirt and we were all push- ing really hard there. Here you had to be a lot more on your toes." Destry Abbott had a tough get- off coming out of the water section during the LCQ. Abbott attempted to double out of the pool as he had been doing, but appeared to change up his line, hitting a knot in the log, which kicked him sideways. Abbott landed on his side in a heap, and, although he was okay, the crash was enough to end his night in Salt Lake. A tricky log jump going into the pool in the Energy Solutions Arena caused several riders to take a dunk in Salt Lake City. RPM KTM's Ra- chel Gutish soaked herself during the practice session with a spec- tacular crash in the pool. Vet racer Kurt Nicoll also went in the drink during his practice session, as he misjudged the lip and got bucked over the bars. "The course changed a little between the morning qualifi- ers and the afternoon practice ses- sion," Nicoll explained. "I misjudged it and went completely underwater in there. I nearly drowned in there!" Spain's Sandra Gomez Cantero won the Women's main event.
