to be able to link him and I togeth-
er as a championship team. Sam-

As for Smith, he was disap-
pointed to come so close and
end up three points short of the
championship, but he took com-
fort in the fact that he did every-
thing that he could do.
"It's a bummer, obviously after
the Calistoga incident, and then to
come up that close in the champi-
onship," Smith said. "And knowing
that, theoretically, it should have
been mine. But that's racing, as
they say. It's definitely a bummer,
but I know that all season and to-
night I didn't leave anything on the
table. I did everything I could ev-
ery weekend. So I'm pumped on
that. And you know obviously my
people are pumped on it. They
know what I did and what I've
done, so they're already excited
for next year."
