OFF ROAD
AMSOIL GRAND NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY SERIES
ROUND 12/OCTOBER 5, 2014
POWERLINE PARK/ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OHIO

"It's been a really long time
since my last win so it feels good
to get up here," Strang added.
"Kailub was obviously on a 150
today, so yeah he was riding awe-
some considering it was such a
little bike. I'm happy I won either
way. It's good to be up here, it's
a relief."
With nothing to lose in the
championship standings, Russell
put forth every ounce of energy
he had in hopes of landing in the
center of the podium. However,
in an intense battle with a former
GNCC Champion on a 450, Rus-
sell admits that he simply didn't
have enough power.
"It was a good day," Russell said.
"I'm pretty bummed to get second
but I rode pretty good, I just need-
ed probably another 25cc and it
might have worked out."
MULLINS IS BACK
Mullins headed up a multi-way
battle for third place between
Ashburn, Baylor and JCR Hon-
da/Rockstar Energy's Chris
Bach, who were swapping back
and forth all race. The 2011
GNCC Champion showed every
ounce of pre-injury brilliance in
his relentless battle for a podium
position. But after being off the
bike for a few months, Mullins
admittedly struggled at the end
of the three-hour race, which al-
lowed Ashburn to push ahead on
the final lap. The Ohio-native held
on for a respectable fourth-place
finish, where he maintains fourth
place in the championship stand-
ings despite missing four rounds
this season.
"It felt good to be back racing,"
Mullins said. "My wrists got sore
about an hour in so I know I still
need time to work up strength in
them. My fingers and grip were
pretty much done by the end, but
I just tried my best to hold on. I'm
alright with the ride today but I'd
definitely like to be on the box
next round."
ASHBURN CONTINUES
TO IMPRESS
