NHRA COUNTDOWN TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

T
he 2014 NHRA Mello Yello series Pro
Stock Motorcycle Championship will
return to the Screamin' Eagle Harley
camp, but it's not clear who will win the title
after Eddie Krawiec closed the gap on team-
mate Andrew Hines to just 25 points with a
clutch victory at the NHRA Nationals in Read-
ing. Krawiec won his fifth race of the season
when he defeated Petrolhead Buell's Scotty
Pollacheck in the final round. Hines and
Krawiec are now far ahead of the rest of the
field, including third-ranked Hector Arana Jr.,
who is almost one full race back with just two
events remaining in the season.
"We were joking around that it's going to
come down to a two-hog race instead of a two-
horse race," Krawiec said. "I knew this was an
important day for me personally if I wanted to
stay in championship contention. You've got
to make sure you can make up every round.
It's going to come down to me and [Hines].
Moving forward, I just have to make sure I stay
focused and take it one round at a time."
After qualifying in the number-one spot
nine times in the first 13 races of the season,
it was a bit of a surprise to see Krawiec's V-
Rod in the number-four spot. Krawiec made
one of his best runs of the season with a
6.822, but he was out-qualified by Arana Jr.,
Hines, and Jerry Savoie, the winner of last
weekend's St. Louis round. Krawiec admit-
