VOL. 51 ISSUE 40 OCTOBER 7, 2014 P73 BY STEVE COX PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEVE COX T rey Canard is an anomaly in motocross racing. He came into the pros winning right away—beating Ryan Villopoto for the 2008 Lites East Supercross Championship in his rookie year— but his promising start soon turned to a troubling string of injuries. No one ever could question Canard's speed, but they did question if he was too fragile, or even too aggres- sive. Things came to a head early in his second 450cc Supercross season, when he and Ryan Morais had their now-infamous crash, resulting in a badly broken back and many other injuries for Canard. Team Honda Muscle Milk stuck with him through all of it, and some people wondered why. The answer is simple: Canard is good PR. People like Trey Canard. He's nice, he's personable, he speaks well, and he's thoughtful. They kept him on at Honda knowing that, even if he didn't fully recover from his in- juries, he was good for the brand. But things are finally coming back around for the redhead who won four of the final six AMA Mo- tocross motos of the season this year. We caught up with him to find out what's what. WHEN THE 2014 SUPERCROSS/ MOTOCROSS SEASON CAME TO AN END, TREY CANARD WAS ONE OF THE HOTTEST RIDERS ON THE TRACK. WE CHATTED WITH THE MUSCLE MILK HONDA TEAM RIDER ABOUT THE 2014 SEASON. Trey Canard started the year on the DL, but he ended it on the top step of the podium. PRIORITIES
