ders," Guintoli said. "The fight for
the championship is definitely on
and we are there. As a team we
are strong, and Marco [Melandri]
is really strong as well. In condi-
tions like this if we started fighting
again, it would be for me a mas-
sive risk to take when he hasn't
got any pressure because he
cannot win it [the championship].
I think it was an intelligent thing
[for him] to do in race one. For
the show it is not a great thing,
but I think the show would have
been better because I would
have just laid off a bit. There is
no way I could chuck 20 points
down the road."
Guintoli was clearly happy to
get to within only 12 points of
Sykes, even if he knew he could
be closer if Melandri had adhered
to the team orders in race two.
