FISHER'S FIRST
Like Brad Baker, Pro Singles
rookie Davis Fisher has also had
a season of highs and lows and
his first Pro Singles win on the TJ
Burnett Farms Honda came at Cal-
istoga.
"It feels awesome," Fisher said. "I
think I've had five seconds this year.
So to be able to win one at Calis-
toga, west coast, it's pretty cool. All
the family is here."
And what made the win even
sweeter was that it came after a big
low - the hard road back from injury
that threatened to sideline him lon-
ger than two races.
The 16-year old from Warren,
Oregon, had a bad crash out of the
lead pack on the last lap of the Indy
Mile. He suffered a brain bleed and
a possible broken back, which after
four different opinions was ultimately
cleared on the second time around
by the only doctor who thought that
it might be broken.
So a very eager Fisher got to the
lead and held it to the checkered
flag. But the other hot up-and-
coming rookie – Jarod Vanderkooi
– kept him honest and made a run
at Fisher, but a mistake forced the

rider to settle for second.
"I found a line up top and reeled
him in," Vanderkooi said. "And about
two laps to go I'm like, 'I got to do
