T
he talk of the paddock has been
Marc Marquez, who has been
smashing records left and right
in the premier class with his absolutely
awe-inspiring season. But next in line
has arguably been this young Australian
kid in Moto3 – Jack Miller.
Most Americans don't follow the sup-
port classes in the MotoGP World Cham-
pionship, because it's been a long time
since an American has been successful
in one of those classes.
If you haven't watched a Moto3 race
this season, you've been missing out. The
class has been outshining even Moto2,
and the 19-year old Queenslander not
only holds the cards in the champion-
ship, but has stood out as a rising star.
So much so that he's skipping Moto2
altogether and making the jump to Mo-
toGP next year alongside Cal Crutchlow
at LCR Honda.
But who is Jack Miller?
From Townsville, Australia, the young-
ster is certainly a quick study. Unlike
many of his European counterparts,
Miller has only been road racing since
2009 when he won the MRRDA 125 GP
Australian Championship. Although he is
comparably new to road racing, motor-
cycling has always been in his blood.
"I grew up on a small farm in Austra-
lia," Miller said. "Just rode dirt bikes my
whole childhood growing up and when
I turned 14 I gave road bikes a go and
never looked back. Have been enjoying
it ever since. And here we are my sixth
or fifth season now of riding on a road
bike and in the World Championship and
leading it. So we have progressed quite
well and I have to keep going that way."
