T
he biggest motocross race in the world visited one of the unlikeli-
est corners with Latvia selected as a territory to meld western and
eastern Europe and serve as a shallow, sandy base for what was
the 68th edition of the Motocross of Nations; a contest first won by the
British in Holland two years after the end of the second World War. At a
packed and vibrant Kegums Circuit it was the French who came out fight-
ing and not only claimed the fat Chamberlain trophy for only the second
time in the seven decades of its existence but also in a manner that left
no dispute regarding the current rulers of global motocross.

second victory ever
at the Motocross of
Nations.
