Roman Albesiano
is hoping to have
an Aprilia MotoGP
team and an Aprilia
World Superbike
team in 2015.
APRILIA DECISION LOOMING SOON
W
hen Aprilia announced
that they were heading
to MotoGP one year earlier
than planned, the future of a
2015 official World Superbike
effort looked at best uncer-
tain. With the announcement
that Alvaro Bautista would be
one of the team's expected
two riders in MotoGP in 2015,
and the future of Marco Me-
landri in MotoGP still not
guaranteed yet, Aprilia Rac-
ing chief Romano Albesiano
still has many issues to fix.
He may not get his current
wish of one strong MotoGP
effort and the continuation
of a strong World Superbike
team, given the realities faced
by the World Superbike pad-
dock – but they are still trying.
"We are deciding in these
days," Albesiano said. "I can-
not tell you anything because
it is not defined. It is a compli-
cated matter and it is chang-
ing day by day. Considering
the tradition of Aprilia in Su-
perbike, considering the per-
formance we are showing, we
are looking for the conditions
to remain and we really would
like to remain. If we can find a
solution for all the points we
would be very happy to join
Superbike next year."
Time is marching on for
Aprilia in World Superbike and
with no one currently able to
bring enough money to con-
tinue to run the team in a sepa-
rate Superbike effort, time ap-
pears to be running out.
