at the company's new factory near
Santa Cruz, California, a factory
that has the potential to produce
10,000 motorcycles annually.
The $16,995 is for the SR with
the base-level battery and it will
cost you an additional $2000
for the battery upgrade. As for
options, the CHAdeMO Socket
Kit costs $1799 and the Quick
Charge will set you back $599.
So if you want the baddest elec-
trical motorcycle on the planet,
be prepared to spend $23,192.
But you won't be going to a gas
station any time after that. And
there's not much in the way of
maintenance costs either: brake
pads and tires; and the belt drive
is now good for 25,000 miles,
according to Zero.
The new Zero SR is a high-per-
formance upgrade to the existing
Zero S, fitted with a 33 percent
larger capacity 660-amp Sevcon
Size Six controller engineered by
Zero, but made in China. Call it
the Apple syndrome: just like its
neighbors over the hill in Silicon
