P
ennsylvania's Moun-
tain Ridge GNCC ranks
amongst some of the rocki-
est and most treacherous terrain
found on the AMSOIL GNCC
circuit. A few heavy showers in-
creased the overall difficulty of
the course and made for an inter-
esting afternoon of racing in the
mountains near Somerset, Penn-
sylvania. Amidst all the chaos
surrounding him, Factory FMF/
KTM's Kailub Russell wrapped
up the XC1 Pro National Champi-
onship following his fifth consec-
utive victory of the season and
so begins the 24-year-old's bid in
rewriting the GNCC history book,
one page at a time.
For starters, Russell's most
recent win marks his 21st career
victory in GNCC, where he now
sits tied with Scott Plessinger for
fifth place on the All-Time Bike
wins list. Furthermore, eight of
those victories have come in
2014, which is a feat of its own
as the two-time GNCC National
Champion has the opportunity to
become the first rider since Juha
Salminen—who won nine races
in 2005—to claim that many wins
