IN THE WIND P28 seasoned pros like Grant Langs- ton and Jeff "Chicken" Matiase- vich were among the riders at Milestone. Matiasevich couldn't resist giving the quarter-mile course a few runs, but admits he won't be trying his hand at the Pomona event. "I just wanted to get out here and ride a little bit and have fun with it, which I did. But I think I'm too old!" Matiasevich said with a laugh. After chatting with the pros, including the Stewarts and the "Chicken" about the Red Bull Straight Rhythm concept, and what they think we'll be seeing in Pomona on October 4, there's only one thing they all agree on: It will be unpredictable. "It's going to make for interest- ing racing," said Matiasevich. "It levels the field a little bit because there's only so much you can do, really. I don't think necessarily the best guy has the best chance to win; who knows who's going to win?" Jean Turner NUZZOLILLI IN A CLOSE ONE V inny Nuzzolilli won the Unlimited Class by just .002 of a second as the AMA Pro Hill- climb Championship Series visited Jefferson, Pennsylvania, for round six of its championship. John Koester took the Xtreme Class win, dou- bling his lead in Xtreme class points, and points leader Matt Walker chalked up his second win in a row in the Pro Sport class as the series mourned the death of rising star Colin Krenzul, the 16 year old passing away recently after a streetbike accident. Nuzzolilli rode first in Unlimited, cresting in 6.780 seconds for the lead. Koester moved into second, less than .002 of a second off the pace. In second half action, Jay Sallstrom laid down a 6.782-second E.T., bumping Koester to third. Koester came into round six aiming to widen his three-point lead in the Xtreme class, but found himself in second-place at the half, .2 of a second behind Sallstrom's 6.813-second E.T. Riding last in order while Sallstrom wait- ed, Koester posted fast time of the day, 6.473 seconds, forcing a second ride by Sallstrom. In his second run up the hill, Sallstrom posted a 6.578-second run, which kept him in second place. Phil Libhart rounded out the podium with a 6.950-second E.T. In first-half Pro Sport action Molly Carbon took the lead with a 9.751-second ride. In the second half, Walker posted the only sub-nine-second E.T. at 8.448 seconds for the win. Ryan Preece moved to third with a 9.767-second run. Walker and Car- bon moved into first and second, respectively, in Pro Sport series points.
