OFF ROAD SRT AMA HARE & HOUND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ROUND 9, SEPTEMBER 21, 2014 WILD WEST CHEVROLET, YERINGTON, NEVADA P84 My Own Race: 503 JUSTIN MORGAN 4TH PLACE O/A After winning Pro 2 at the WORCS race the previous week- end, Zip-Ty Racing Husqvarna's Justin Morgan missed a podium finish by just seven seconds in his first National H&H since round one, even after a so-so start on his DP Racing/Torco/AXO-backed FC 450. "I would say I was about 10th or so. I passed a few guys in the chaos of the first couple corners then everything kind of equalized and people were starting to spread out. I got Ivan Ramirez on this rocky road near the pits and I think Ryan Kudla as well on the two-stroke. I was behind Nick Burson, right on him for a long time—just forever, it felt like. I came into the pits and I just saw the two Betas in front of me the whole time; we kind of stayed about the same, then at the end I charged as hard as I could. I was real close at the end, but that was all I could do. But I had a great time!" 450 IVAN RAMIREZ 7TH PLACE Ivan Ramirez got a pretty good start, but less than a mile into the race, he found himself veering right when he should've veered left. He wasn't the only one, and being so early in the race, others were right there to capitalize on his mistake, putting him father back in the dust. "I was in dust all day and struggling," he said. "It was a pretty rough day, but I'm healthy and we have one more round." 110 SKYLER HOWES DNF On the start, Skyler Howes found himself right with Speed Freak Bomb Run Award winner Ricky Brabec, though his day ended a lot sooner than planned when he crashed in a boulder field less than 20 miles in. Howes said, "Me and Ricky and Jake [Argubright] all went three wide in the sand wash off the bomb all the way until it started to bend around, and I hopped in right behind Ricky on this little goat trail and stayed right behind him for probably a mile before Jake got me in kind of the softer sand—out-powered me a little bit. I fell in to line right there, just right in Jacob's dust all the way to mile 14. I was feeling really on it, like I could keep pace and even eventually put a move back on him, but I just caught a rock with my front wheel that sent me straight off the trail into a pile of boulders. I think I re- broke my humerus from a long time ago. It was a good ride until then!" Several of his Blais Racing Services KTM team- mates as well as others stopped to assist Howes. FMF/6D Helmets-sponsored 498 RR, and he completed the race in 2:26:24, just seven seconds ahead of Zip-Ty Racing Husqvarna's Justin Morgan. Purvines Racing Beta's Justin Morrow was another six minutes back for fifth place fol- lowed by Dennis Belingheri, Ramirez, Open A winner Ryan Kudla, 250cc A winner Ryan Smith and Vet A winner Morgan Crawford.CN OVERALL 1.
