MOTOGP MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 13/SEPTEMBER 14, 2014 MISANO WORLD CIRCUIT/RIMINI, ITALY P58 RABAT'S SEVENTH! The result of the Moto2 GP Silverstone was repeated, but the excitement not so much, in another largely proces- sional Moto2 race. Marc VDS Kalex's Mika Kallio was on pole, and took off at speed, taking a one-second lead over his teammate, title leader Tito Rabat on the first lap, and adding another six tenths of a second over the next two laps. "We know I am faster in the early laps, so I tried to build a gap, and then manage it," Kallio said. But it didn't last, once Rabat got his head down, and before half distance he had closed right up, "took a little breather," and finally pounced to take the lead on the 18th lap. Kallio's hopes of fighting back came to naught after he made a mistake, and they carried on in that order to the fin- ish, Rabat finally 2.2 seconds ahead for his seventh win of the year, extending his title lead to more than 20 points. Ricard Cardus took a flier from the third row to hold third for three laps, but then succumbed to both Johann Zarco and Dominique Aegerter. The next to pass him was Maverick Vinales and shortly afterwards, on lap 11, also Thomas Luthi. Two laps later he slipped off, rejoining at the back. The only other changes up front came as Aegerter dropped steadily back, passed first by Vinales and three laps later by Luthi. Thus the order: Zarco third, then Vinales, Luthi and Aegerter, respectfully spaced apart.
