NELSON H istory is not likely to look favorably on the Daytona Motorsports Group era of running motorcycle road rac- ing in America, but one rider who thrived during the six years (2009-2014) of DMG control was Yamaha's Josh Hayes. During that era Hayes won four AMA Su- perbike Championships and was the winningest rider in the series during the period. So it's only ap- propriate that it was Hayes who closed the book on this chapter of racing history by not only win- ning the final DMG-run champi- onship, but the final race as well. At New Jersey Motorsports Park, Hayes crossed the line first both in Saturday's rain race and Sunday's season finale.
