VOL. 51 ISSUE 37 SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 P27 line approximately 40 seconds behind Sutherlin. Colton Udall (Honda) and Jus- tin Seeds (Kawasaki) rounded out the top five, while Mark Sam- uels (Honda), Justin Jones (KTM) and Eric Yorba (KTM) filled out the Pro-class finishers. In the Pro 2 class, Husqvarna rider Justin Morgan captured his first win, but it was RPM/KTM's Travis Coy clinching the title with a second-place finish. Honda rider Blayne Thompson took top honors in the Pro 2 Li- tes class, but it wasn't enough to keep Yamaha rider Michael Del Fante from clinching the class title. With one round left on the 2014 schedule, Sutherlin holds a semi-comfortable 16-point lead over Bell. Taylor Robert took top honors at the Glen Helen WORCS. PHOTOGRAPHY BY HARLEN FOLEY SAMPEY-DRAGO TO NHRA A ngelle Sampey- Drago, the most successful female drag racer in NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle history, is coming out of retirement to race for George and Jackie Bryce's Star Rac- ing. Sampey-Drago, the three-time NHRA Pro Stock Champion, is 44 years old. "We have been working on bringing back Angelle for a few months now," said George Bryce. "Next year is our 35th An- niversary at Star Racing and we thought what better way to cele- brate than having the winningest female racer in NHRA history to keep the Star Racing legacy alive. We were going to wait to announce this, but in light of recent events we thought there was never a better time." Bryce's rider Michael Ray re- signed from the team last week. Sampey-Drago has amassed 41 NHRA event wins and wants to go after Dave Schultz's record of 45. Her 45 Top Qualifier awards are the most in class history, ac- cording to a team release. "We had a great test this week at South Georgia Motor- sports Park," said Sampey- Drago. "I was definitely nervous the first run, but I kept getting more comfort- able each run. My life is in order with a great family and I have been missing my rac- ing family. The fans were so good to me when I was at Houston earlier this year… and to be honest I still have that burning desire to win." "Angelle and her Star Racing S&S-powered Buell will be back before the end of the season," said Bryce. "We are not sure if it will be Dallas or St. Louis, but you will see Angelle this season and we will make an all-out as- sault for the championship in 2015 with both Angelle and Chaz Kennedy."
