IN THE WIND P26 ing for Aprilia in the World Super- bike Championship – the other. On Monday, however, reports surfaced that Melandri was stay- ing where he is for another crack at the World Superbike Champi- onship with Aprilia. Aprilia's return to MotoGP is taking place a year earlier than originally planned, but next year's machine is likely to be a relatively low level upgrade of the current ART bike, built to CRT rules and currently a grid-filler, in spite of the best efforts of rider Danilo Petrucci. For 2016, when current Open- class rules will apply to all, an all- new bike is planned. Michael Scott REDDING GETS HIS WISH T he Marc VDS team is to join MotoGP next year, fielding a satellite factory Honda for Scott Red- ding in a two-year deal. The decision came late on Sunday evening, af- ter team owner and brewery magnate Marc van der Straten met with HRC vice president Shuhei Naka- moto at Misano. Gresini's move to Aprilia has impacted heavily on Redding, currently the top production Honda RCV1000R rider. Redding's two-year contract with the Gresini team promised him a factory RC213V for 2015, which is now obviously out of the question, but his strong debut MotoGP season has earned him the strong backing of HRC, unwilling to lose him to a rival. One candidate to take on the rider and a factory- spec bike was the Spanish Drive M7 Aspar squad, currently running a pair of production Hondas, and his former Moto2 team Marc VDS, which has been contemplating a move up to MotoGP for more than a year. Although details are yet to be firmed up, the ba- sic framework is in place for a three-year deal with Honda, and two years with Redding. For Redding, it is a return to the team he rode for in Moto2, winning three GPs and finishing second in the World Championship. Michael Scott PHOTOGRAPHY BY GOLD & GOOSE Scott Redding will return to the Marc VDS team for 2015 as the squad moves up to the MotoGP class. GLEN HELEN WORCS WIN TO ROBERT F MF/KTM's Taylor Robert made his second appear- ance of the year in the 2014 Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Se- ries, presented by Motoworks and Dirt Bike Magazine, and he picked up right were he left off—winning. His latest success came at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, on Sun- day and it was his fourth straight WORCS win at the facility. The 111-degree heat didn't slow Robert down any, as he took the lead on the first lap and never looked back, taking the checkered flag a little over a min- ute ahead of defending WORCS Champion Robby Bell. Third place went to the se- ries points leader Gary Sutherlin (KTM) who crossed the finish
