OFF ROAD
ROUND 5 & 8/SEPTEMBER 6-7, 2014
THE RANCH/ANZA, CA
P88
AMA D-37 BIG 6 GRAND PRIX SERIES/AMA WES T HARE SCRAMBLES SERIES
boiled down to a sprint.
"I knew everyone would be
giving 101 percent so I was too
and just made a mistake," he
said. That mistake resulted in him
crashing in a whoop section with
both Brabec and Weigand able
to capitalize and pass.
"When that happened, I rode
smart and kept looking back,"
Brabec said. "Timmy was reeling
me in quick. I was getting kind
of nervous so I kept going a little
faster. I think somehow he made
a mistake and I put some time
on him on the last lap, and that's
what I needed. It feels good to
pull a Big 6 win."
Coincidentally, Brabec won
the National Hare & Hound—his
career first—that So Cal hosted,
giving him a clean sweep of So
Cal races this year.
"I think I was riding better in
the second part because I kind of
knew the track," Weigand said.
"I didn't ride [the Unclassified or
the Vet race] this morning—my
boys had soccer—so I didn't get
here until right before the race."
Round three winner Eric Yorba
and Northern California's Steven
Godman rounded out the top five
overall in the WCGP with Justin
Seeds winning Lightweight II
(250cc) and taking sixth overall
aboard his 2003 KX250 maga-
zine project bike. CN
