VOL. 51 ISSUE 36 SEPTEMBER 9, 2014 P67
Briefly...
Unadilla is known for its legend-
ary motocross track and one of the
most iconic pieces of its storied his-
tory includes the "Sky Shot" jump
that launches riders higher than any
other obstacle on the Pro Motocross
circuit. GNCC normally routes the
afternoon race over the fan favorite
jump, but this year it was removed
due to safety concerns.
Thad DuVall made the choice to
contest the first half of the GNCC
series aboard a Honda CRF250R,
which actually suited his riding style
quite well. However, DuVall is set to
compete on a CRF450R as a mem-
ber of this year's U.S. World Trophy
Team in November at the ISDE and
with a little seat time over the sum-
mer break, DuVall decided to try his
hand with the bigger bike at Unadilla.
"I decided to race the 450 at a local
race at the beginning of the summer
and I had a lot of fun so I told my dad
I wanted to race it [at GNCC] after
the break. So last week we went out
and did some testing on it, adjusted
some clickers and look where it got
me today. I'm glad I made the switch,
I don't think the 250F would have
been as good today because it was
pretty slick and you could really be
lazy on this thing and just shift up, it
was awesome to ride! Honda has a
great 450 and me and dad worked
really hard all summer to get it ready
to go."
