2015 YAMAHA SR400 FIRST RIDE P42 and offers a claimed 66 mpg! That's a 200-plus mile range on approximately $12 of gas. I chal- lenge you to find something else that's as much fun for just 12 bucks. On our journey through down- town Venice, California, we were met with a good amount of traf- fic (not surprising). Lane splitting was at times a challenge, but the SR400 handled the gridlock ex- tremely well because of its small- er size and light weight. We were able to dip in and out of cars with ease and fit through spots that very few motorcycles would be able to pass through. Farther north, the Santa Moni- ca Mountains provided a perfect playground for the SR400 with its two-lane tight twisty canyon roads, plenty of elevation change and always amazing Southern California views. In this environ- ment, the single-cylinder Yamaha is a blast to ride. There's not a ton of power, of course, but this forces you to choose lines wisely and carry as much momentum as possible.
