IN THE WIND P28 BISCEGLIA NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR M att Bisceglia has been named the 2014 Pro Mo- tocross Series Rookie Of The Year. The GEICO Honda Team rider turned Pro midway through the season last year after winning the AMA Horizon Award at Loret- ta Lynn's. After just completing his first full year on the profes- sional circuit, Bisceglia finished ninth in the 250 East Supercross Championship and 15th in the AMA 250 Motocross Champi- onship, which included missing three rounds with injuries. "It was really awesome to win rookie of the year," Bisceglia said. "I actually had no idea I had won it initially, because since I had been injured for the last couple races I didn't get to go to the banquet. One of the mechanics sent me a picture of the award and told me I won it. All I could think was, 'Oh, that's so awesome.' "I'm just really happy to win, especially with all the other rook- ies that I was running against. I had ups and downs throughout the year. I think some things could have gone a little bit bet- ter, but I have learned from my first year. I'm going to use my off-season as a time to build and work on what I have to in order to come back strong next year." Bisceglia says he is already fo- cused on making improvements for next year. He has goals of be- ing a front-runner for the entire 2015 season. "Next season I want to be a little bit stronger," Bisceglia. "I started off the season in the top 10 in the first three rounds. I was pretty happy with that, but obvi- ously I still wanted to build off of that. "I want to be able to eliminate little injuries and put myself in a good position to where stuff like that won't happen. I'm going to learn from my mistakes and hopefully stay consistently in the top five in outdoor competition next year. I think that would be a good goal right now because the competition is really stacked. I want to set my sights even higher than that but I have a lot of work to do. It's not going to be easy, but I'm looking forward to it in this off-season." Matt Bisceglia was recognized for a solid first year on the Supercross and National MX circuit as a pro. CHARLIE MULLINS BACK ON THE BIKE (SORT OF) N ational Enduro Champion and former GNCC Champi- on Charlie Mullins was back on the bike again at the Little Brown Jug National Enduro in South Carolina, on August 31. The bike, however, was actually a bicycle and he was just visiting friends and fellow competitors during Saturday's proceeding. Mullins made the surprise visit after riding his bicycle more than 100 miles from his residence in Hickory, North Carolina. Mul- lins hasn't ridden a motorcycle since injuring both his wrists while training earlier in the year. At that time, Mullins had already won the first four rounds of the 2014 National Enduro Series and was battling Kailub Russell for the GNCC points lead. Ever since, he's been on the road to recovery.
