E
veryone who has ever drag
raced has dreamed of win-
ning the U.S. Nationals,
the sport's oldest and most pres-
tigious event and that includes
Screamin' Eagle Harley-David-
son's Eddie Krawiec. The three-
time World Champion finally
achieved that longtime goal when
he stopped White Alligator Suzu-
ki's Jerry Savoie in the final round
for the second-straight race.
"Winning this race was my plan
all week," Krawiec said. "I said I
was gonna come here and crush
it. On Friday, we came out of
the truck and ran well, but then
we changed the tire and clutch
and we struggled. Later, we
went back to our old set-up and
we killed it. In the final my bike
bogged and it did it in the semi
final round two. We struggled to
find the balance on our combi-
nation, but it worked out for us.
I never saw Jerry and I never
heard him. I just tried to focus on
making the best run that I could.
