to establish himself as the early
leader. He would win again in test
three, but an unimpressive time
in test four and a tangle with a
tree in the final test dropped Rus-
sell just off the pace for the win.
Series points leader Andrew
DeLong was in the mix early as
well, winning test two after get-
ting off to a poor start in the
opening test of the day. The
Factory Racing Husqvarna rider
struggled with the intense heat
and humidity during tests three
and four, but came on strong in
the end to steal third overall away
from Russell with a good time in
the final test.
Baylor proved to be the fast-
est in the tight and twisty fourth
test, and he was third fastest in
test five, which gave him just the
cushion he needed to beat out
Strang at the finish.
"The fourth test was pretty tight
all the way through and I think
that one was my best, it put me
over the top, I think," said Baylor.
"Me and my brother usually race
local races here and I'm familiar
with the terrain, which probably
helped me some."
Strang was happy with second
considering it was his first at-
tempt at National Enduro racing.
"Getting second surprised me
a little," said Strang. "I wasn't
sure coming into this race where I
would end up in the results at the
end of the day, I thought I would
have struggled a little more, but it
was fun, I had a wonderful time."

suffered earlier in the year. "So far
my wrists are healing well, I go to the
doctor in two weeks and hopefully I'll
get the okay to start riding a motorcy-
cle again," said Mullins. "Right now
I've just been mountain biking and
road biking and just whatever I can to
stay fit. It's been a lengthy recovery
but hopefully I'll get some good news
in a couple of weeks. I'm wanting to
be ready for the Powerline GNCC in
October; it's kind of a stretch, but I
think it's doable. My main focus is
to try to be ready for Six Days in Ar-
gentina, which is in November, so if I
start riding the middle of September
that will give me a month and a half.
Right now it's still up in the air, but
hopefully it will work out and I can
represent the country well."
