IN THE WIND P34 nounced that it has acquired the promotional rights to the AMA West Hare Scrambles Series. It will be a separate but comple- mentary series with no conflict- ing dates, more promotion and could act as a feeder series for the hare & hounds. The Youth H&H Series will continue to be supported and social media will get greater at- tention. In looking at social me- dia reach, one statistic surprised everyone: The city with the larg- est number of H&H series "fans" was Ensenada. The second larg- est number of fans came from Tijuana. Las Vegas had the third largest number of fans. All of this is just a small por- tion of what was discussed at the meeting, but the general feeling was that the series and manage- ment are heading in the right direction to keep desert racing alive and well in the future. It appears that the combina- tion of visa issues and the change to a new team have altered his plans and he will instead now watch the race Stateside. Australia's Brett Metcalfe also recently an- nounced that he'll skip the 'Nations this year, as did Russia's Evgeny Bobryshev, who has not yet fully recovered from a broken leg that he suffered in June. His replacement has not yet been an- nounced.
